Gilly Shankland

My association with Bishops Down has been as a teacher, grandmother and governor since 1996. After taking early retirement as SENCo and Assistant Headteacher in July 2004, I became a Community Governor. My “retirement” lasted just three months and I now work as a Specialist Teacher for Physical Impairment supporting in schools across the Tunbridge Wells, Cranbrook and Paddock Wood area.

I have governor responsibility for SEN and ICT and have a passion for technology and witness on a daily basis the difference it can make to children with a wide range of disabilities. For this group of children and young people, technology makes what once seemed impossible, possible.
