Dear Acorn Class
What fantastic work again this week, well done!
The children in school are so interested in spiders at the moment so we thought we would have a quick change from our 'seaside' theme and look at the amazing book, 'Spinderella' by Julia Donaldson. There is lots of counting and numbers involved in this story and Spinderella is so desperate to learn to count!
Have fun and send us some photos when you get time.

We have loved seeing everything you have been up to this week. We are continuing with the theme 'The Seaside' and beginning to look at the creatures you will find in the ocean.
The perfect book for this is 'Commotion in the Ocean'. Our planning is on the website and has also gone out on Tapestry too.
There is a video of our first story 'Commotion in the Ocean' on Tapestry.
Don't forget we love to celebrate anything you have been up to, it does not have to be just what is on the planing.
Big virtual high-fives,
The Early Years Team

EYFS - Useful Websites for Home Learning
Reception children should be using numbers up to 20, reading them, writing them and putting them in order. Also exploring addition and subtraction within that range.
We have learnt all the single sounds and some diagraphs (two letter sounds). When using ‘Phonics Play’ or other phonic websites please focus on the Phase 2 games. As the phases do not relate to our ‘Read Write Inc’ phonics scheme there may be some sounds the children are unfamiliar with.
Also during school closure, https://new.phonicsplay.co.uk/ are offering free parent access using:

Welcome to Acorn Nursery Class
Academic Year 2019-2020
Our Class Teachers are Mrs Catherine Ashley each Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and Mrs Sinead Roberts each Thursday and Friday.
Welcome to Acorn Nursery!
In Nursery our focus is on learning through play. The casual observer might consider that children are merely playing with sand, dough, bricks and so on. The children are in fact working hard to make sense of and to master their environment.
We use our online journal ‘Tapestry’ to record, track and monitor children’s learning and progress. Please do add contributions from home to your child’s journal!
