Year 6

Hello and welcome to the Oak Class homepage! We are an industrious class of 29 year 6 pupils who engage in our learning with energy and enthusiasm, never failing to impress the adults around them. Our class teacher is Mrs Spoor and she is supported by Mrs Silburn (Higher Level Teaching Assistant), Mrs Magee (Teaching Assistant) and Mrs Tizzard (P.E. teacher). Our creative topic for the two summer terms is 'Off with their heads!' We spent a day with Henry VIII as our stunning start to the topic, where we learnt that only the royalty and noblemen we ever beheaded, we all would have been flogged or hung...what a thought! We will be learning about Tudors for the remaining two terms of this school year as well as making time for other activities such as our residential trip, cycling proficiency and final production. In our class we have a whole class focus on BLP, which includes managing our distractions, planning well, listening carefully, being independent and taking greater responsibility in class and around the school. We also work hard to have good relationships with each other, as well as good collaborative team work. In the build up to the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics we will be reflecting on the values that this sporting event encompasses; we will be noticing pupils who display these qualities in their school life and celebrating this in our Friday assemblies. Year 6's hard work will be recognised through a variety of approaches, one of which is the award of house points to the children as a progression from the smileys, sunshines and stars used in the rest of the school. We have fun learning and regularly update the website with photos, why not browse our gallery to see what we have been up to?
