Criteria for entry into the Bishops Down Primary School Nursery
Things you need to know
· Bishops Down Nursery has 3 entry points during the year, September, January and April. We admit children who are already 3 years old on the first day of the school term.
· Sessions last for 3 hours per day and are either for mornings or afternoons.
· You may choose a minimum of 3 sessions or maximum 5 per week.
· We would expect children to be attending for 5 sessions in the term before they start in Reception class.
· In addition we have a breakfast club, lunch club and after school club should you need them. We do not offer full day sessions.
We DO consider the following criteria when allocating places in order of priority:
1. Children who have been offered places in the school’s reception classes who will be starting in reception in January.
2. Health and Special Access reasons. These places are for children who have a permanent, severe and/or complex physical disability or serious medical condition that causes a level of independent mobility or self-care that restricts/prevents an alternative mainstream placement
3. Children in Local Authority Care.
4. Current family association.
This will be a brother or sister in the same school at the time of entry where the family continue to live at the same address as when the sibling was admitted. If they have moved, they live within 2 miles of the school or have moved to a new property that is nearer to the school than the previous property.
5. Nearness of children’s homes to school as the crow flies.
We DON’T take account of:
· How long your child’s name has been registered with the school
· Any previous association you or your family may have had with the school
· How long or short a time you have lived in the area
Procedure for applications
· Please complete an application form which is available either from the school office or via the school website.
· All applications for places must be received by the end of the school day before:
October half term ready for a place in January.
February half term ready for a place in April.
May half term ready for a place in September.
· If you apply for a place when your child is very young you will be contacted by the school office nearer the time to confirm your intention to apply for a place.
· Late applications will be considered only after all other applications received before the deadlines above.
You will be informed whether your child has a place in writing approximately 6 weeks prior to your child starting.
Nursery applications can be obtained by contacting the school office on 01892 520114, or by emailing the school office at office@bishops-down.kent.sch.uk .
