Steven Farthing

I was appointed Local Authority governor in February 2016. I have a human services background and have worked with a number of organisations such as Barnardos, United Response, The Place2Be and the Institute of Counselling. I also have experience in community work and supporting people who experience social exclusion. I am particularly interested in the health and wellbeing of pupils, supporting their families, home/school liaison and developing the community. I have two children and my daughter has dyslexia which made school a struggle. Despite this, she successfully completed her A Levels and is soon to graduate from Derby University. I enjoy writing and have been published in Fidelity, The Living Document, Self and Society and Philosophy for Business. I am the link governor for SMSC (spiritual, moral, social and cultural development).
